With a trophy in our possession, the task before us seemed simple enough: win another one. But not just any one; A first place finish. That's what we wanted. The Fiero Club had brought 107 cars out in 2001 to claim first place. We would have to do at least as well in 2002 to have a chance at taking home the big trophy. The question remained how to get it done. During one of the monthly club meetings, John Webber suggested expanding The People's Choice...really expanding it, with over 20 categories and for fun, he added the comment about "let's go for 100" on the poster artwork. For a club who began with only 3 cars on the showfield in 1999, were we stretching too far? And did we have enough help to handle parking the cars? How could we arrange the cars to make it easy to cast your votes, and more importantly, would people actually vote and hand in their ballots? Seems like a lot of questions to ask, and there were many more along the way. We somehow devised the right formula; Lehman Motors SAAB and Kelly SAAB would take care of the lunch on Saturday. In order to eat on us, you had to vote and hand in your ballot before noon. Ron Nichipor would be the one to coin the phrase "No Votes, No Vittles" and everyone loved the idea.

And what about the parking?

CPSC's Marc Fails came up with the street sign idea, and enlisted the help of Jason Morris at InfiniteGraphix in Pottstown, PA to devise some street signs, with SAAB names to help with the parking areas. Names like Viggen Valley Road, Aero Avenue and Drop Top Drive. There were enough signs for each category, including Highway 99, which would somehow end up going home with someone who thought it was a Route 66 sign. Working with the show promoter, we were able to get enough parking are to put the parking issue well behind us.

John Webber's Poster art started the fire, which soon spread, and when we were done counting, we had attracted 120 SAAB during the weekend.
